[edit] Managing Sub-Categories
Once you have created a Category, you can further compartamentilise your data by using sub-categories. This is exceptionally usefull if you are providing your clients with information on your product range or a detailed list of your services.
Having each of your services or products on a separate page, means that you can take time to explain it more thoroughly. Search engines will be able to easily digest this information and in turn this should help with search engine ranking.

- Click "Add a Sub-Category"

[edit] Promoting Sub-Categories from your Homepage
Driving visitors to parts of your business from a marketing point of view is normally a fairly difficult job. With InfernoCMS, we have made this less of a chore by introducing the sub-category "Featured Categories" function. Simply enabling this for a sub-category means that it is available from the homepage, in one click.
The above images show when a sub-category is featured, how it appears to your website visitors.
[edit] Managing Photo Galleries
All images uploaded to an InfernoCMS driven site are stored in image galleries, and as such are re-useable in each Article, Category and Sub-Category that you create. Additionally you can associate an image gallery with a Article and it will then be viewable by visitors to your website.
Images cannot be associated with an Article, until they have been uploaded, so before we can associate an image to anything, we must first upload it. This walk through will guide you through the process of creating a new Gallery, then Adding an Image to it.
[edit] Adding an Image Gallery
- Click on New Gallery
- Populate the fields accordingly
- Title - Give the Image Gallery a memorable name, something that groups the collection of images together
- Description - This field is used to further explain the what is in the gallery
- Click Add Category
[edit] Managing Images
All images have to be added to a gallery before they are useable. This Quickguide will show you how to upload an image to a gallery. Once uploaded you will be able to associate it with any category, sub-category or article.
- Click on Galleries
- Click on the icon to the left of the Gallery you wish to add the new image to
- Browse for the image on your local machine - please note that it must be less that 2mb in size
- Alter the title as needed. This does not have to end .jpg or indeed have no spaces etc, this is purely so you know what the image is ie "A picture of a car". InfernoCMS will however attempt to work out what the title is from it's filename.
- Add a description as this helps when you are attempting to locate an image again for use in an article etc as well as explain to your web visitors what the image is
- Click Upload New Image to complete this process.
- Your image will now be available as an associated image for use with Categories, Sub-Categories and Articles.
[edit] Managing Articles
This is the core element of InfernoCMS, and we have left this to last, as it relies on all of the above being understood and covered. Each sub-category can have mulitple, almost unlimited Articles added to it. This allows for great scope and scalablity for your website.
Website visitors can then read articles, navigate to related articles and intuitively browse the website. This Quickstart will explain how to add a new article to a sub-category. The article management using InfernoCMS is extremely powerful and as such requires a bit more of an understanding be using it.
Articles can only be added to a sub-category, if you wish to add any text to a category or sub-category then please use the description field in the Category or Sub-Category Manager.
